Josie May Cox, daughter of Hiram and Emma Roland, was born April 12, 1884, and died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on March 30, 1959. She was united in marriage to James Wesley Cox, in 1898, and to this union thirteen children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and four daughters.
Survivors include three sons, C. Dewey and Harley of Knoxville, and Wesley of Des Moines; four daughters, Mrs Emma Wood, of Phoenix, Ariz; Mrs Ardis Smith of Burlington; Mrs Edith Cannon of Des Moines; and Mrs Ruth Lewis of Lacona; four brothers; three sisters; twenty grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 3, from the Bybee & Davis funeral home, conducted by Rev Alva Browning, with burial in the Ridlin Cemetery.
