Brenda Sue Light was born on Dec. 23, 1960, in Knoxville. She was one of seven children born to Vivian Lurie Fee and Donald Dean Light. Brenda grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1979.

Brenda lived her entire life in Marion County; the last 19 years in Pleasantville. Brenda worked for 17 years at The Principal Financial Group in Des Moines. For the past seven years, she worked at Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville where she was loved and will be missed. Brenda enjoyed working with the elderly and had a true gift for interacting with them.

Brenda passed away on Oct. 22, 2006, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 45.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Melody Hulgan.

Those left to mourn her passing are one sister and her husband, Nola and Randy Watson of Osceola; four brothers, Steven Light and his wife, Christy of Carlisle, Vance Light and his wife, Debbie of St. Louis, Mo., Donald Light of Knoxville and David Light of St. Augustine, Fla. as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Oct. 27 at Williams Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Griffin and Chaplain Bill Lane officiating.

Memorials in memory of Ms. Light may be made to the Griffin Nursing Center Activity Fund.
