Kyl Robert Scieszinski, age 28 of Knoxville, died in a work related accident on March 14, 2006, at Gladstone, Mo.

Kyl was born on Oct. 2, 1977, in Davenport to Jacque King and Bob Scieszinski. He lived most of his life in Chariton. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1996. Kyl was very active in wrestling and football while in high school. After high school he joined the Navy and served as a member of the Sea Bees. While in the Navy from August 1996 to August 2001, he traveled to Korea, Japan and Puerto Rico. After completing his tour of duty in the Navy, he went to work in the cellular phone and cable TV tower business. He was involved with both the construction and maintenance of towers throughout the Midwest.

Kyl cherished his time with family and friends, liked nothing better than to tell stories, listen to the latest events in everyone's lives and playing practical jokes on people.

He was a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan and always had their cap on. He was a very adventurous individual and loved the outdoors. He truly made the world a better place and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Kyl is survived by his mother, Jacque King of Knoxville; father and step-mother, Bob and Karen Scieszinski of Brush Prairie, Wash.; sister and brother-in-law, Carie and Charlie Black; nephew, Cayde Kyl Black of Chariton; sister, Kamie King of Knoxville, step brothers, Drew and Derek Simpson of Brush Prairie, Wash.; grandfather, Bob Owens of Chariton and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jayne Owens of Chariton and grandparents Edward A. and Rose Marie Scieszinski of Albia.

Funeral services were on March 18 with Pastor Doug Brady officiating. Burial was at the Chariton Cemetery. Military Honors were conducted by both the Chariton American Legion Post 102 and Russell American Legion Post 308.

The family has requested that in lieu of sending flowers, anyone wishing to do so may donate to the memorial fund that has been established in Kyl's name for the Chariton High School Wrestling Program. Contributions should be sent to Fielding Funeral Home and they will be combined and given to the high school.
