Fern Marie Giberson was born on Dec. 12, 1901, in Oakley to William J. Burgett and Mary Florence Niralona (Frazier) Burgett.

Marie graduated from high school in 1920. She received a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. She then taught in country schools prior to doing office work in Chariton.

On March 21, 1929, she married Willis Edgar "Jim" Giberson in Chariton. The couple farmed in the Fairfield area and then in the Oakley area. In 1937 the couple moved to Knoxville and Jim worked at the V.A. Hospital until retiring in 1962.

Marie died on May 27, 2006, at the West Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation center at the age of 104.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim on June 25, 1966, three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on May 31 with Dr. Craig Bex officiating. Interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines on June 1.
