Pella Herald: Tuesday, about 10 o’clock, little Charley Cox, the ten-year-old son of Frank Cox, was drowned in the Des Moines River, near the county bridge. It seems that young Cox, with a companion, was fishing in the river. His companion went off a short distance to dig bait, and was gone only a few moments. On his return he saw Charley struggling in the water. He at once cried for help, but before help arrived the boy had been under water several moments. The body was found about 12 o’clock. The parents have the sympathy of the community. Mr. Cox is a section hand on the Wabash.
