Monroe Mirror: Daniel Abrams was instantly killed by falling slate in the Black Diamond Coal Mine at Dunreath Monday morning at 10 o’clock. He leaves a wife. His father lives in Des Moines. A few minutes before the slate fell he was cautioned by Mine Inspector Morgan, who was visiting the mine, to prop up the roof with timbers. The young man answered that he would do so “in a minute.” In a little while the slate fell, crushing him to death.
