Hi Mary,
This man was married at least three times, and had a daughter, Elizabeth J. Amos, who was 20 months old in the 1930 census (age 1 and 8/12, as they put it.) This was when he was married to Vina. Living with them were Lynn Lancy (age 24) and Phyllis Lancy (age 19), who were Vina's half-sisters.
While there could have been two or three men with the same name, everything seems to match well enough to believe it's the same guy.
The two small obits I have say he died at age 76, at Camair Convalescent Home in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was the son of Frank and Lucy Groms Amos, born February 5, 1892, in Cuba, IA. He was retired from Iowa Southern Utilities. Survivors were his daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Klunder of Des Moines, his brother Albert of Ottumwa, IA, and sister Mrs. W C. Hall of Des Moines. Golden's funeral was conducted by Rev. Father Gary Frahm of St. James Episcopal Church, with burial in Friends Cemetery.
All the stuff I've found on Golden Amos says he was born on February 5, but the years varied from 1886-1895 (including 1892, 1893, and 1894.) He couldn't fudge on the death date, though - December 20, 1968.
It's possible that Golden paid for his cemetery plot, or his daughter chose the cemetery. I was never in contact with Elizabeth; our interest in him is through to his marriage to Breesia (Legg) Loney. They were married on July 6, 1948, in Schuyler County, Missouri.
Breesia remarried in 1954, and so far we have been unable to find a divorce between Breesia and Golden. Susan Jellinger at the State Historical Society of Iowa has helped us search. Possibly they were divorced in Las Vegas or Mexico? Not sure.
Best wishes to you on this -
Tory
