Funeral services for Marilyn Boender, 68, of Mason City were held January 28 at Rolling Acres Christian Reformed Church in Mason City, the Rev. Jack Vanden Heuvel officiated. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marilyn was born June 29, 1934, in Delta to Guy and Cornelia (Valster) Kelderman. She married Edward Boender April 25, 1952, in Oskaloosa.

After some time in the U.S. Air Force, they moved to Mason City in 1960. Marilyn worked as a telephone operator. They had four children and she was a homemaker for many years.

She was very involved in the founding and work of the Christian Reformed Church. She was active in Women's Club, P.E.O. Chapter KW, and Occident Club.

In recent years she was employed at Comprehensive Systems.

She died Friday, January 24, at the Good Shepherd Health Center after a long struggle with amyloidosis.

She is survived by her husband, Ed; a brother and sister-in-law: Gerald and Kathryn Kelderman of Lafayette, Colo.; their children and spouses: Pat and Dave Guetzko of Mason City and their children, Lisa, Matthew and Mark, Mike and Donna Boender of Lakewood, Colo., and their children Nicholas and Zachary, John Boender of Golden, Colo. and Carol Boender of Washington, D.C.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special niece, Joan Fynaardt of Oskaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred; and her parents.

Arrangements were handled by Major Erickson Funeral Home in Mason City.
