NEW SHARON - Laura F. Miller, 78, of New Sharon, died Wednesday, March 28, at her home. Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at New Sharon United Methodist Church, the Rev. Kevin Glesener, the Rev. Doug Clark and the Rev. James Finn officiating. Burial: Highland Cemetery, New Sharon. Visiting hours are open today at Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon, with family present 5-7 p.m. today. Memorials: Grinnell Regional Hospice.
Laura Ferne Miller was born March 14, 1923, in New Sharon to D.B. and Lulu Grubb Fisk. She was raised and educated in New Sharon. On Dec. 23, 1939, she married Keith Miller in Unionville, Mo. They settled in New Sharon, where she helped her father for several years on the dairy farm. She worked as a telephone operator until 1954, when she and her husband built the New Sharon Dairy Creme, which she operated for 11 years. An avid golfer, Laura was a charter member of Prairie Knolls Golf Course & Country Club, and a lifelong member of New Sharon United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Keith, of New Sharon; a daughter and son-in-law: Patricia and Dahl Wickham of Montezuma; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and two brothers and a sister-in-law: Ted and Pauline Fisk of New Sharon, and Alfred Fisk of Searsboro
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harvey Fisk. (The Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
