BROWN. - Died, at her home in Monroe township, Thursday, May 17, 1906, at 6:35 o'clock p.m. Mrs. Martha Jane Brown, aged 70 years, 10 months and 9 days. Funeral Saturday, May 19, at 2:30 p.m., at Wymore church. Interment in Wymore cemetery.
Martha Jane Brown was born in Warren county, Illinois, August 26, 1935, and in the same year came west with her parents, who settled on the farm in Monroe township where she died. Mrs. Brown was here raised to womanhood and in the same home which she had for years known was married to Hamilton Brown. Here was spent the whole period of her married life and when death came after two years of suffering from dropsical trouble it was here she died. Mrs. Brown was well known as one of the old settlers of the county and was highly esteemed as a splendid type of woman, beloved by those who knew her. Three sons are living. They are Reed Brown and W.J. Brown of Monroe township, and Rev. Bruce Brown of Mansfield, Ohio. (Oskaloosa Herald, May 18, 1906, p 4.)
