WASHINGTON - Wayne Olanzo Stewart, 94, of Washington, died Saturday, February 9, 1991, at M.L. McCurdy Home in Washington. He was born October 21, 1896 northwest of Rose Hill, to William Wayne and Nettie Lewis Stewart.
He married Bertha Shipman Montgomery on December 21, 1921, in Oskaloosa. She died July 16, 1964 in Oskaloosa.
On February 16, 1973, he married Marie Lee Arhodes in What Cheer. He was a farmer and veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Harry L. Anderson Post #34, Tri-Lumniar Lodge #18 of A.F. & F.M. and member of Knights of Pythias of Rose Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of Hot Springs, Ark.; one daughter, Maxine (Mrs. Floyd) Woods, Jr. of Washington; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Wayne J.; his first wife; three brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Powers Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Boyd officiating. Masonic Rites will follow at the funeral hoe. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery.
Family visitation will be Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. (The Oskaloosa Herald, February 11, 1991).
