(Illeta) Jolleen "Jo" Durian, 57, of rural Eddyville, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, of injuries received in an automobile accident. She was born August 12, 1946 in Centerville, the daughter of Francis and Ileta McDanel Argo. She was baptized in the First Christian Church at Oskaloosa. She graduated from the Oskaloosa Senior High School with the class of 1965. She then attended AIB, and graduated from there in 1966. Following graduation she moved back to Oskaloosa, to work at the old Iowa Trust and Savings Bank. On October 19, 1968, she was united in marriage to Duane Durian at the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa. Following their marriage they moved to Burlington, and Jolleen worked for a moving company. They then moved to the Ottumwa area, where they raised hogs and she worked at Sereg's Locker in Eddyville. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and the local stock car races.

Jo is survived by her husband, Duane "Tuck" Durian of rural Ottumwa; two sisters: Colleen Argo of Tampa, Florida, and Carole (& Lloyd) Gholson of Florence, Kentucky; 1 brother: Darrell (& Vera) Argo of Oskaloosa; 2 nieces: Brenda Grupp of Tampa, Florida, and Stacey Shoemaker of Cincinnati, Ohio; her mother in law: Marcella Durian of New Sharon; 3 sisters in law: Rosemary Humphery of West Virginia, Mary (& Jerry) Jones of Muscatine, and Celeste (& Kim) Croskrey of Blakesburg; 6 brothers in law: Bill (& Janet) Durian, Nick (& Arlene) Durian, Joe (& Sue) Durian, and Jim (& Val) Durian, all of Oskaloosa, Fred (& Sue) Durian of Iowa City, Jerry (& Diane) Durian of Albia.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her father in law: Richard Durian.

Visitation for Jo Durian will begin Friday at 9 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. The family will be at the Funeral Chapel from 6 to 8 Friday evening to greet friends and relatives. No funeral service is planned. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
