Funeral services for Andrew Menninga, 84, will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Leighton. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home with family present 6 to 7 p.m. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register 20 May 2011.

Andrew Menninga was born to Yella Z. and Sarah Witzenberg Menninga on November 8, 1926, at the home place near Pella. Andrew went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Pella Regional Health Center at the age of eighty-four.

In 1948 Andrew was united in marriage with Patricia Slycord. They were blessed with three children: Lonnie, Ron, and James. On January 2, 1981 Andrew married Harriet Wallace in Pella, Iowa.

Andrew farmed the first part of his life then worked at Ulrich Motors in the body shop and Fuller Body Shop. Later he did car body work at his home and later worked in maintenance at Hilltop. He then moved to Texas and returned to Leighton in 2001. He enjoyed doing his car body work, fishing, and reading Western books.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Harriet; his children: Ron and Pearl Menninga of Pella and their children Chris and Diane, and Tim and Misty; James Menninga of Oskaloosa; and Lenora and Will Shepard of Liberty, Missouri; step-children: Jeanne Ryun of Urbandale, Deb and John Kelly of Dallas, Iowa, and their children Heather and Rob, Shawn, Kelsey and Terry, Ashly and Kyle, Kensi, and Jed, and Bob Ryun and his daughter Kayla and friend Sherri Church of Knoxville, Iowa; many great-grandchildren: and his sister Laurine and Bill Van Maanen of Pella.

Preceding him in death: his parents; son Lonnie and his wife Debra Menninga; and brother Cecil and his wife Marie Menninga.
