Dale I. Smith, 75, from Galesburg, Illinois, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1985, at 12:45 p.m. in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born near Hedrick, Iowa, November 17, 1910. He was the son of I.W. and Laura Hedges Smith. He married Mary Lou Redmond June 19, 1945. He married Jewell Majors In Galesburg July 16, 1965.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Dallas V. Smith and Eugene B. Smith.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Don Majors; three daughters, Dale Ann Van Unnick, Nancy Line and Jo Simpson; two sisters, Alta Fear and Frances Eckley; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was a machinist for 40 years. He was a member of Eagles Lodge 518 in Galesburg.

Funeral services was held September 30 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
