Gerald H. "Jerry" Estal, 62, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, Sept. 2 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Bates Funeral Chapel in Osklaoosa with the Rev. Lanny Tuttle officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Wednesday after 9 a.m. and the family will be at the funeral chapel that day from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mr. Estal was born Sept. 7, 1938 near Osage, the son of Eugene M. and Leona Huset Estal. He graduated from Mitchell High School and attended Waldorf College in Forest City. He then attended and graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.
Mr. Estal was a certified public accountant for 35 years in Oskaloosa.
On April 1, 1983, he married Joann Barron at the Little Brown Church in Nashau. Together, they owned Camelot and Avalon retirement homes in Oskaloosa.
He belonged to Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa.
Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant daughter, Jennifer Estal and a brother-in-law, Russell Milton.
Survivors are his wife, Joann of Osklaoosa; his children, Rhonda and her husband Mike Grimm of Billings, Mont.; C.J. Estal of Oskaloosa, Lee Barron of Dallas, Texas; Nathan Estal of Oskaloosa and Marcy Dowdy of Minneapolis. Also surviving is a grandson, Corby Barron, two brothers and their wives, Aubrey and Sandra Estal of Colorado Springs and Larry and Ladonna Estal of Reed Springs, Mo. and a sister, Gloria Milton of Osage.
