Norma Johnson Dies

Norma L. Johnson, 48, 53 Forest Drive, a member of the Fairfield High School faculty for the past 24 years, died at 8:30 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Her death was caused by cancer. She had been a patient at the hospital since Oct. 3. Arrangements are pending at the Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at Eddyville.

Miss Johnson was born March 18, 1927 in Mahaska County, the daughter of Loren and Eliza Systman Johnson. She graduated from Eddyville High School in 1944 and received her BA degree at the University of Northern Iowa in 1948. She was awarded a master of science degree at the University of Colorado in 1962.

She also had additional graduate work at the University of Wisconsin and Iowa, Colorado State U. and Northeast Missouri U.

Miss Johnson taught at Chariton High School for two years before joining the FHS staff as girls physical education instructor in 1951. She was an elder of the First United Presbyterian Church and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and numerous professional organizations.

Surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Johnson, Oskaloosa; and one sister, Mrs. Gerald Foster, Gibson.
