Obituary

Death of a Prominent Iowa.

DES MOINES, April 4--Major F.L. Downing, of Oskaloosa, ex-President of the State Agricultural Society, died at Colfax Springs at 4 o'clock this morning. He had a stroke of apoplexy Wednesday night. Maj. Downing was well known throughout the State, had occupied many positions of trust and was universally esteemed.
