ALMOND --- Archie Almond, 49, of 816 Second avenue west, died Thursday evening at Mahaska Hospital.

The son of Floyd and Ecka Rust Almond, he was born July 4, 1921, at Union Mills and was a life-long resident of this area. A veteran of World War II, he was employed by the state highway commission.

Surviving are his wife, Norma; four children, James, Jane, Marilyn and Clarissa, all at home; two brothers, Harlan of Oskaloosa and LaVerne of Marshalltown; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Tedrow of Swisher, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, at Powers Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Max Johnson of the Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery.
