Eugene H. "Gene" Leech, 63, of 951 11th Ave. West, Oskaloosa, died Saturday December 15, 1990, at the Mahaska County Hospital.

He was born May 22, 1927, at Oskaloosa, the son of Harold G. and Alice Johnson Leech. He was married to Donna L. Breuklander on November 4, 1951 at Oskaloosa.

He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1945 and served in the United States Army during World War II. He returned to Oskaloosa after the war and from 1953 to 1968 he worked with his father in the family owned Edgetown Dairy until it was sold.

He then worked for Wapello Dairy for a short time, and then went into the trucking business. Ill health forced his retirement about five years ago.

He was an active member of the Mahaska County Sheriffs Posse and had been an active member of the Oskaloosa Jaycees.

He is survived by his wife Donna of Oskaloosa; one son, Micheal Leech of Huntsville, Ala; three daughters, Patricia Leech of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Karol Leech and Karen Leech both of Oskaloosa; his mother Alice Leech of Oskaloosa; one sister Charlene (Marion) Van Gorp Jr. of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harry Spear officiating.

Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa with military rites conducted by the Oskaloosa American Legion.

The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 7-8 p.m. to greet relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the Mahaska Diamond Shelter.
