Elizabeth Mader, was born in Noblesville, Hamilton county, Indiana April 21, 1838 and died January 21, 1900 at the age of 61 years and nine months. She was confirmed and admitted to membership in the Lutheran church at the age of 14 years. In the summer of 1853 she came with her parents to Fremont, Mahaska county, Iowa. In 1863 she was married to Phillip Roquette to which union there were born four boys and one girl. She lived in Fremont until 1891 when she went to Dickinson, North Dakota with her boys, where she lived until her death. (Note from contributor: she likely did not leave until after the death of her 2nd husband William McBride in 1892).

On Saturday morning the sad information reached the relatives that Mrs. Elizabeth Roquette was dead. Her son Jake had gone to her a few days before and it was reported that she was doing better. A report that was quickly followed by another that she was dead. The body was brought from Dickenson, North Dakota where the three sons and Mrs. Roquette were living. The sons accompanied and all of the children were present at the funeral except one daughter. The funeral was held on Wednesday. Her funeral was largely attended by a most sympathetic audience, who had known and loved the lady during her long use residence here.

THE SPELLING OF THE FAMILIES LAST NAME IS ROQUET. SOME WENT BY ROQUET PRONOUNCED ROWKAY. SOME WENT BY ROQUET PRONOUCED ROCKY, SOME WENT BY THE SPELLING ROCKEY, SOME WENT BY ROQUETTE....AND USED THE DIFFERENT VARIATIONS THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES. ALL THE SAME ORIGINAL FAMILY OF 4 SONS OF FATHER FREDERICK ROQUET.
