Virginia Roquet, Hedrick
HEDRICK Virginia Roquet, 77, of rural Hedrick, died Wednesday, November 16 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
She was born on July 3rd, 1928 in Rose Hill, IA, the daughter of Raymond Samuel and Iva Marie Wells Catcott. She was raised in the Hedrick/Fremont area and graduated from Hedrick High School in 1945.
Following graduation, she was employed at Holt?s Drug and Novelty Store in Oskaloosa. Virginia was united in marriage to Harold Ivan Roquet, August 15, 1946 at the Union Chapel Christian Union Church near Fremont. Following their marriage they established their home on the family farm where she raised her family and helped her husband farm. Virginia enjoyed flowers and working in her church. She was a member of the Union Chapel Christian Union Church, the Homemakers Club, and had served as president of the C.U.W.F. on national, state, and local levels. Virginia coached her churchs Bible Quiz team, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and played piano at church. A member of the Hedrick Band Boosters, she loved to play the piano for her own enjoyment and also won many ribbons at various county fairs with her floral arrangements.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Harold, of Hedrick; a son, Ivan Roquet and wife Karen of Hedrick;a daughter, LeAnn Sue and husband Gary Little of Carson City, Nevada;six grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Little of Davenport, Amy and Rob Koon of McClenney, Florida, Andrew and Amanda Little and Michael Little all of Carson City, Nevada, Sabrina Marie Roquet of Ottumwa and Eric Alan Roquet of Hedrick;a great-grandson, Brendon Little of Carson City, Nevada; and two step grandchidren, Stephanie and Stacie Little. Also surviving is her brother, Bill Catcott and wife Alma of Round Rock, Texas; her sister, Nancy Cunningham and husband Dallas of Ottumwa and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, November 18, at the Fremont Funeral Chapel with family present from 6?to 8 p.m. Friday evening.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 19th, at the Fremont Funeral Chapel with Pastor Hearold McElwee and Rev. Floyd Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Abel Cemetery near Fremont.
A memorial has been established in her name to the Jericho Hills Camp in Lucas, Iowa.
