Mrs. J. S. McClain Died at Ninety

Mrs. Lillian McClain passed away at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday at her home southwest of Fremont. She had reached the age of 90 years, and until just a few months ago was able to do her work around the home, being seriously ill only a few months.

Mr. McClain was the daughter of William and Mary Dinsmore, born in Ohio, and came to Iowa as a child. The family settled near Martinsburg.

On November 9, 1882, she was united in marriage to J. S. McClain, who preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1943. She had spent most of her life in the Fremont community, and was a member of the Fremont Baptist church.

Surviving are two sons, Fred of San Francisco, and Rex at home; two daughters, Mrs. E. L. Howell, of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Clay Stout of Fremont; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Allie Krout of Des Moines. A daughter, Myrle preceded her in death in 1923.

The body is to be taken to the home from the Community Funeral chapel in Ottumwa today, with services to be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Fremont Baptist church. Rev. Rex Dinsmore of Newton, a nephew, will be in charge of the service.
