funeral services were conducted at the assembly of god churchsaturday afternoon november 29 1947 for john monroe stephena resident of new sharon during the past sixty two years who passed away wed. nov 26 1947 in the hospitalat my pleasantia following a lingerong illness.rev g r mcghghyhad charge of the service and burial was in the masonic cemetery.john monroe stephen son of a j and margaret stout stephen was born in monroe co ohio [calis] oct 21 1861 . on july 17 1883 he was married to sarah morris at batesville ohio . to this union eight children were born. their first child a boy died in infancy.another son wallace thomas died in 1918 and his wife sarah died on march 10 1944. this leaves to morn his passing 6 children j oliver of la port minn, ralph henry of oakaloosa , bessie hook of allerton ia,helen calland of des moines, mary vada smith of omaha neb, eva watters of oskaloosa he also leaves 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren several brithers and sisters also servive.
