The New Sharon Star, January 14, 1943. Obituary. Selmon FOSTER. Selmon Foster, son of Nicholas and Caroline FOSTER, was born in Mahaska County, Iowa, in the Browntown Community, December 12, 1867 and departed this life January 2, 1943, at the age of 75 years and 21 days. He was one of a family of nine children, five brothers and three sisters, all of whom have preceded him in death. He lived all his life in Mahaska County except for three years spent in Kansas, and the past ten months in Poweshiek County, to which he moved with the Fred Curry family, with whom he had made his home for the past six years. He and his youngest brother cared for their parents until their departure. He has been a loyal citizen and a faithful one. He was interested in and supported diligently the Bethel Church until it ceased to exist. He was known to friends and neighbors as Sell, and a friend indeed, he was to all who knew him. Nieces and nephews are his nearest living relatives, although he leaves to mourn a host of friends, to whom his departure is a great sorrow.
