The New Sharon Star, January 14, 1943. Obituary. Miss Florence BARBOUR. Miss Florence BARBOUR, aged 59 years, second daughter of George and Ida BARBOUR, passed away at a nurse's home in Van Nuys, California, January 2nd, 1943, a native of New Sharon, Iowa. Miss BARBOUR did secretarial work in Washington, D.C., 25 years after her graduation in the New Sharon High School. She had been ill with arthritis and living near her sister, "June", Mrs. Frank A. MATHER, the past six years. She is survived by her three sisters, Mrs. MATHER, Edna Edith RANGER of Chicago, Edith Edna WILSON of Marshalltown, Iowa, and two aunts, Katrine WILSON and Effie Stella BETTIS of 962 E. Villa Street, Pasadena, California. Funeral services were conducted at Praiswater's funeral parlor at Van Nuys, and interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. BARBOUR and Mr. MATHER will be remembered as having owned the Lumber Yard at New Sharon at one time.
