Oskaloosa Daily Herald, Monday, July 19, 1948. Van KAMPEN Rites Held New Sharon (Special to Herald). New Sharon, July 19--New Sharon business houses closed this morning for funeral services for Helen Louise VanKAMPEN, 16, daughter of Everett VanKAMPEN of New Sharon route 1 and one of six girls drowned in Friday afternoon's tragic accident near Union Mills. More than 1,000 persons jammed the Assembly of God church and overflowed to the church yard for the services at 11 o'clock this morning. Rev. G. R. McGHGHY, pastor of the church, was in charge of the services, preached the sermon and gave the eulogy to the girl. Music was furnished by Mrs. McGHGHY, Lavonne DAVIS, Sherill HARTER, Joan McVAY and Velda VanZEE and selections were "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Beyond the Sunset." The body was taken to Sully for burial. Pallbearers were Barbara QUILLEN, Francine FREDERICKSON, Donnie VanderLINDEN, Peggy SHIFLETT, Elsie Carolyn KLINKER, and Betty deJONG. Flower attendants were Nancy GREGSON, Shirley GAY, Joan FREDERICKSON and Frances VanderWAAL.
