BUCKEYE SCHOOL CLOSES
Pupils of Buckeye school in Spring Creek township, and their teacher, Miss Adaline Moore, enjoyed a picnic dinner Wednesday as a climax to their year’s work. The affair was also shared by the patrons and friends of the district. Miss Moore was re-elected for a third year to the school, where she received most of her grade education, but she resigned and will teach Walker school the coming year. As a parting gift, Mrs. Dole S. Macy, on behalf of the children and the patrons, presented Miss Moore with a beautiful framed picture. Miss Moore treated the youngsters with bandy bars. CHRISTMAS SCHOOL LUNCHEON. A Christmas luncheon featured the Yuletide party given by Miss Adaline Moore on Friday for her youngsters at Buckeye school in Spring Creek township. Following the noon day meal various games and contests were enjoyed with Virginia Beach, Billy Goodman and Dorothy Beach winning prizes. Another feature of the occasion was a surprise number program with each youngster contributing to the entertainment, which was made up of readings, songs, violin solos and story telling. The highlight proved to be the reading and story related by Miss Moore’s four-year-old great nephew, Master Dwight Owen Moore. Others on the guest list included Miss Moore’s niece, Ione Moore and another great nephew, Jimmie Moore, and Dorothy Beach. A gift exchange was enjoyed after which Miss Moore treated the youngsters to candy and oranges. Others in attendance included Virginia Beach, Billy Goodman, Sonny Klein, Robert Ankeney, June Rodgers, Donna Goodman, Bernice Rodgers, Max Schultz, Betty Ann Ringlestein, Minnie Klein, Bobby Goodman, Wilma Jean Ringlestein and LaVerne Moore (Dec. 23, 1938).
