Velma Hatfield, Macksburg

Funeral services for Velma Hatfield, 80, were held Mom., Nov. 5 at Macksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathy Raines officiating. Hatfield died November 1, at Madison County Memorial Hospital.

A resident of Madison County for the last 57 years, she was born December 6, 1909 in Adair County to Thomas Ross and Cecile (Keesey) Wallace. She married Frank Hatfield December 17, 1932 in Papillion, Neb. She was a member of Macksburg United Methodist Church, W.R.C. (Women’s Relief Corps), Rebekah Lodge of Macksburg, Wayside Garden Club, U.M.W. (United Methodist Women) and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.

Survivors include her husband Frank of Macksburg; sons Wallace of Lakewood, Col., Dennis of Davenport and Dale of Dexter; step-mother, Gertrude Pine of Santa Barbara, Calif.; sisters, Rena Belle Nielson of Greeley, Col., Maudelln Lombard of Canoga Park, Calif.; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 19 nieces and eight nephews.

Burial was at Moon Cemetery in Macksburg. Memorials will be made to the Macksburg United Methodist Church.

Velma Hatfield, 80, of Macksburg died Thursday, Nov. 1, 1990, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Services were 1:30 p.m. today, Nov. 6 at the Macksburg United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kathy Raines officiated the service. Music was provided by Orpha Foreman and Cindy Selim, vocalist. Burial was in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg with the Collins Funeral Home in Winteset in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hatfield was born on Dec. 6, 1909 in Adair County to Thomas Ross and Cecile (Keesey) Wallace. She married Frank Hatfield on Dec. 17, 1932 at Papillon, Neb. She was a homemaker and spent the last 57 years in Macksburg. She was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church, the Woman's Relief Corp., the Rebekah Lodge of Macksburg, the Wayside Garden Club and the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her husband Frank Hatfield of Macksburg; three sons, Wallace (wife Louise) Hatfield of Lakewood, Colo., Dennis (wife Joyce) of Davenport and Dale (wife Mary) of Dexter; stepmother, Gertrude Pine of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a brother, Thomas R. Wallace Jr. of Canoga Park, Calif; two sisters, Rena Belle Nielsen of Greeley, Colo., and Maudelln Lombard of Canoga Park, Calif.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Velma Hatfield of Macksburg, Iowa, daughter of Thomas Ross Wallace and Cecile Keesey Wallace, was born December 6, 1909 in Adair County, Iowa, and died November 1, 1990 at Madison County Memorial Hospital, Winterset, Iowa.

On December 17, 1932 she was married to Frank Hatfield at Papillion, Nebraska.

She had resided the last 57 years in Madison County. She was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church, the Women’s Relief Corp., Rebekah Lodge of Macksburg, Wayside Garden Club and the United Methodist Women.

Funeral services were conducted November 5, 1990 at United Methodist Church, Macksburg, Iowa with Rev. Kathy Raines officiating. Orpha Foreman provided piano music and Cindy Selim was vocalist and organist. Interment was in Moon Cemetery, Macksburg, Iowa.
