February 1927

Montaville S. Bosley, eldest son of Jacob S. and Mary M, was born in Van Buren County, Iowa, February 12, 1855, and departed this life February 13, 1927, at the age of 72 years and one day.

He spent his entire life in Iowa, coming to his home in Penn Township thirty-six years ago, and resided there until his death.

His marriage to Clara V. Knox occurred March 6, 1884, and to this union were born seven children, one of whom died in infancy. Of the six living, four, Jose, of Minneapolis, Edna of Chicago, Mrs. Marjorie Freeman of Valley Junction and Howard K. of Earlham, were present with their mother in her bereavement. Mrs. Wm. Francis, of Carstairs, Canada, and Homer, of New York, were unable to reach the home.

Besides the widow and children he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Edith Eddy, of Marango and Miss Cora Bosley, of Dexter, and a brother J. E. Bosley of Ladora.

As Mr. Bosley spent the greater part of his life in Penn township, he had shared in its varied activities and vicissitudes, and was known to his neighbors and friends as a man of business integrity and moral uprightness.

His first cessation of activity came last May when he was seized with a complication of diseases from which he never completely recovered. He was a man of ceaseless activity, always happiest when busy, rarely leaving the farm whose management occupied his days even to the time of his death.

Funeral services were held at Penn Center, Wednesday afternoon, February 16th, at 2 p.m., burial in Penn Center Cemetery. Services were conducted by C. M. Corrie, pastor of the church. The music was furnished by a quartet, Mr. Bernie Wetrich, Mrs. Frank Leeper, Miss Ruth DeVault and Mr. O. J. Devault; Mrs. Corrie at the piano.
