DOROTHY D. BEELER, Winterset

Services for Dorothy Darlene Beeler, 77, Winterset, who died January 12 (1990) at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held on Mon. Jan. 15, at the Congregational Christian Church at Truro with the Rev. Tapiwa Mucherera officiating. Burial was at the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Born February 29, 1912 at Farlin in Greene County, she was the daughter of Orson and Minnie Greiner Beebe. She graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Iowa State University for two years.

She was married on April 6, 1932 in Lincoln, Neb., to Albert Donald Beeler. She was a housewife and lived on a farm near Peru until moving to Winterset in 1986.

Mrs. Beeler was a member of the Federated Women's Club, the Winterset Chapter No. 180 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Matrons Club, Gray Lady Volunteers at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, the Madison County Antique Club, a charter member of the Madison County Historical Society, and the United Methodist Church at Winterset.

Survivors include a son, Larry and wife Nelda of Peru; a daughter, Linda Beeler of Chicago; four grandchildren and one great-grandaughter; a sister, Irma Odam of Winterset; and a brother, Howard Beebe of Fremont, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don in 1988, and a grandson.

Truro rites Monday for D. Beeler

Rites were conducted at United Church of Christ in Truro Monday afternoon for Dorothy Darlene Beeler, well known 4-H activities judge and leader who died Friday, Jan. 12 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, Winterset. She was 77.

The Rev. Tapiwa Mucherera of Truro officiated and burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Madison County.

She was born Feb. 29, 1912 in Greene County, the daughter of Orson and Minnie Creiner Beebe.

A graduate of Jefferson High School, she attended Iowa State University. She married Albert Donald Beeler at Lincoln, Neb., on April 6, 1932. The couple lived on a farm near Peru until moving to Winterset in 1986.

In addition to her 4-H and Extension Service activities, Mrs. Beeler was a member of the Federated Woman’s Club, the Winterset Chapter of the Eastern Star, Past Matrons Club, Madison County Antique Club and a charter member of the Madison County Historical Society. She was also a Gray Lady Volunteer at Madison County Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don, who died in 1988; and one grandson. Survivors include a son, Larry and wife, Nelda of Peru; a daughter, Linda Beeler of Chicago; four grandchildren, Don Beeler and wife, Becky of Castro Valley, Calif., Larry Beeler and wife, Lynne of Council Bluffs, Gary Beeler and wife, Laura of Des Moines, Becky Koerwitz and husband, Steve of Castle Rock, Colo.; and one great-granddaughter, Hallie Lauren Beeler; a sister, Irma Odam of Winterset; and a brother, Howard Beebe of Fremont, Calif.
