Mervyn R. Armstrong, Earlham

Services for Mervyn R. Armstrong, 67, rural Earlham, who died Jan. 4 at the Veterans Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Jan. 7 at the Penn Center United Methodist Church at Earlham with the Rev. Robert Farr officiating. Burial was at the Chase-McDonald Cemetery.

Born Dec. 27, 1917, at Earlham, he was the son of Paul and Dene Armstrong.

He was a member of the Penn Center church and attended Earlham High School. He served in the Army during World War II.

He was married to Ethel McNichols on Feb. 3, 1950.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Loretta and Linda; a son, Kenneth; five grandchildren; brothers, Max and Gerald; and sisters, Louise and Leone.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Mervyn R. Armstrong, son of Paul and Dene Armstrong, passed away January 4, 1985 at the Veterans Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Mervyn was born December 27, 1917 in Earlham, Iowa.

He was a member of the Penn Center Methodist Church and attended Earlham High School. Mervyn served his country in the Army during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Ethel McNichols on February 3, 1950 and to this union were born three children: Loretta, Linda and Kenneth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and he leaves to mourn, his wife, Ethel; two daughters, Loretta and Linda; a son, Kenneth; five grandchildren, Robert, Lynette, Lisa, Amy and Melinda; two brothers, Max and Gerald, and two sisters, Louise and Leone.

Funeral services were conducted January 7, 1985 at the Penn Center United Methodist Church, rural Earlham, Iowa, with the Rev. Robert Farr officiating. Organ music was provided by Marcella McCleary. Pallbearers were Kenneth Creswell, Walter Heimberger, Albert Fagen, Fred Morford, Scott Day and LaVere McCleary. Flower attendants were Olive Lenocker and Avis Kenworthy. Interment was in Chase-McDonald Cemetery, rural Earlham, Iowa.
