Miles Hart, aged resident of Webster Township, died at the home of his son, Arch Hart, Wednesday Dec. 28th, at the age of 94 years. He is thought to have been the oldest man in Madison County. He had been in poor health for some time, and complications last week caused his death.
Mr. Hart came to this county with his parents, when a young man. His father obtained land from the government and here he grew to manhood.He enlisted in the Civil War and was with Wilson on his march through the southern states, at the end of the war in 1865.
His marriage to Martha Ellen Welty took place in 1867 and they were parents of nine children, Mrs. Etta Gilbert, Mrs. Florence Quick who passed away in 1907, Mrs. Carrie Ridout, Eddie and Sadie who both died in infancy, Mrs. Emma Hollen, Arch Hart Orie Hart, and Beatrice who died in 1895, at the age of 9 years. Mrs. Hart died in 1928, at the age of 77. The past seven years Mr. Hart resided with his son Arch.
He is survived by his five children, twenty grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two sisters in law, Mrs. Caroline Hart of Winterset, and Mrs. Ida Welty of Macksburg. The Rev. Ward H. Tarr conducted his funeral service at the Oak Grove Evangelical Church last Friday afternoon, December 30th, and burial was made in the Rock City Cemetery.

Miles Harvey Hart, son of George and Sarah Kenworthy Hart, was born in Ohio March 5, 1838 and died December 28 at the home of his son, Arch Hart, in Webster township.
He came to Iowa with his parents when a boy, his father obtaining government land. He enlisted during the Civil war and was with Wilson on his march through the southern states at the close of the rebellion in 1865.
His marriage to Martha Ellen Welty who died at the age of 77 March 29, 1928, took place in 1867. Of their nine children, five are living; Mrs. Etta Gilbert, Mrs. Carrie Ridout, Mrs. Emma Hollen, Arch and Orie Hart. Mrs. Florence Quick, Eddit (sic), Sadie and Beatrice are deceased.
The Rev. Ward F. Tarr, pastor of the Oak Grove church in Webster township, conducted the funeral services Of M. H. Hart, Friday afternoon at one o'clock at the church; burial was in the Winterset cemetery. Mr. Hart was nearly 94, one of the oldest residents of the county, coming here when a boy.
Mr. Hart became a member of the Evangelical church when a young man but later transferred his membership to Pleasant View, Methodist church. He had made his home the last six years with his son, Arch Hart.
Other relatives who survive are twenty grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Caroline Hart of Winterset, and Mrs. Ida Welty of Macksburg.
