Winterset, IowaJean Thomas, 95, of Winterset, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2020 at the Winterset Care Center North.
Jean was born on April 5, 1925 to Daniel and Ruth Dingamen in Pella, Iowa. She married Don Thomas on August 8, 1947 at Central College in Pella, Iowa.
Jean was known to be a very skilled quilter. She made and sold many quilts throughout her life. She also enjoyed being outdoors gardening and tending to her flowers. Jean liked to watch the Chicago Cubs baseball team whenever they were on television, even during the bad years. She was also a wonderful caretaker for her late husband Don prior to his passing in 2005.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Delynn Thomas of Waterloo; son, Craig Thomas of Ames; 3 grandchildren, Rachel, Don and Nick Kemp; 2 great grandchildren, Marteis and Amara Kemp; and sister, Pricilla Steinhook.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don Thomas; and 7 brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Burial will follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Live streaming will be available for Jean’s funeral service on her Tribute Wall at caldwellparrish.com.
