Catharine I. Wegner, 93, died December 14, 2006, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2006 at Bethesda Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Wight Hoogheem officiating. Burial at St. Charles Cemetery.

Catharine was born February 7, 1913 in St. Charles, IA, to parents, Herman A. and Cora (Irwin) Mueller.

She was an Ames resident since 1979. She had also lived in Des Moines, Davenport, and Cedar Rapids.

Catharine had a BA in education from the University of Iowa. She was a school teacher in Kellogg and Winterset.

Catharine married Jack Sayre in June, 1938; he preceded her in death in 1978. She married Waldo Wegner May 19, 1979 in Bettendorf; and he preceded her in death in 2001. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, Mortar Board, Phi Beta Kappa, PEO Chapter LN (past president), Mary Greeley Hospital Auxiliary, AIOFA, and AAUW.

She is survived by son, Donald Sayre (Marcia) of Murrysville, PA; daughters, Ellen Taylor (Harvey Harrison) of Des Moines, Jane Brewer of Muscatine; step-daughter, Ann Kelsey of Kansas; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers, Byron and Herman Mueller.

Visitation will be held 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 17 at Adams Funeral Home.
