Sona Sue “The Boss” Brown, age 74, a resident of Ft. Mohave, Ariz. died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at her home surrounded by her husband and family. She was greeted in death by her son, Donald L. Brown.

She was born on November 22, 1940 in North Charleston, South Carolina and was a retired Teamster.

Sona leaves behind her best friend and husband of 54 years, Daniel M. Brown; two sons, Timothy Brown and James (Shelly) Brown, both of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a future date in Des Moines.

Sona “Sue” Brown, 74, of Fort Mohave, AZ died at home on July 11, 2015. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. next Monday, August 17 at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. The family will begin to receive friends at 6:30 p.m. prior to the service. Urn burial will be at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery in Whittier, CA.

Sue was born November 22, 1940 in Charleston, SC to Douglas and Bernita (Jones) Rutledge. She and Daniel Martin Brown were married October 8, 1960 in Bethany, MO. They made their home in Downey, CA for 35 years until their retirement to Arizona. She was a retired Teamster and an artist who enjoyed theater and art museums.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and son, Donald Leigh Brown. She is survived by her husband, Daniel; two sons, Timothy Brown of Mitchellville and James (Shelly) Brown of Altoona; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association.
