Death Angel called our friend and neighbor George Kirkland, last Monday morning. He left a wife and seven children, beside a host of sorrowing relatives and friends to mourn his early demise. He made many friends and few enemies. Was a good neighbor of a cheery disposition. Obituary elsewhere in this paper.

George Kirkland was born in Webster township, Madison County, Iowa, April 13th, 1876.

Was married to Myrtle Edgington on January 7th 1902. He died at the home of his parents in Macksburg, Iowa, Monday morning, February 5th, 1917, at the age of 37 years 9 months and 22 days.

He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, seven children, father, mother, two brothers, two sisters, besides a large number of relatives and friends.

Mr. Kirkland had been ill for some little time, having visited several specialists in different places, seeking relief. He was a patient sufferer through all his sickness.

The funeral services were conducted from the M. E. Church the sermon by the pastor B. D. Sutton. Several splendid selections were rendered by the quartette. The casket was covered with a beautiful floral tribute, the roses being especially beautiful. Interment was made in Macksburg cemetery. The bereaved have the sympathies of the entire community.

Transcriber's note: Deceased's middle name taken from daughter Grace's Iowa Delayed Certificate of Birth. Transcribed as published, year of birth should read "1879" which is consistent with his published age at death and with his gravestone.
