Mrs. John Atkinson Dies at Truro

Mrs. John Atkinson of Truro died of a heart attack Monday, at the age of 58 years, and her funeral services were held at the Congregational Christian church there, this afternoon (Wednesday) at 2 o’clock, with burial in the Ebenezer cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, J. Dean Atkinson of Belmont, California, and Dale of Peru; and three sisters, Mrs. Forest C. Creger and Mrs. Marvin Dutton both of Truro and Mrs. Leo Maeder of Peru. She also leaves a brother, Harold Holmes of Des Moines.

HEART ATTACK FATAL TO MRS. NOLA ATKINSON

Funeral Services At Truro Christian Church Sept. 29. Was Correspondent For Osceola Newspapers

Mrs. Nola Holmes Atkinson, 59 year old Truro housewife, and correspondent for the Osceola newspapers, died Monday at the Winterset hospital following an unexpected heart attack at her home in Truro Monday morning.

Funeral services for Mrs. Atkinson were held at the Truro Christian church Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. Rev. James Nicholson and Rev. Millard Marshall officiated with arrangements in charge of the Kale Funeral Home. Burial was in the Ebenezer cemetery at Truro.

Mrs. Atkinson has written a column for both Osceola Newspapers for several years, and her final column appears on page 2 of this section of the Sentinel.

Born March 29, 1906, at Truro, Mrs. Atkinson was the daughter of Isaac Earl and Florence Frank Holmes. She graduated from the Truro high school.

On March 23, 1930, she married John Atkinson at Santa Anna, Calif. She lived most of her life in Truro, where her husband was employed by the Natural Gas Pipeline Company’s booster station. Mrs. Atkinson was a member of the Truro Christian church and the Thursday Girls club.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Jaydean of Belmont, Calif.; and Dale of Peru; a brother Harold Holmes of Des Moines, and three sisters: Marge Creger and Pat Dutton of Truro and Dorothy Meader of Peru. She was preceded in death by her parents.
