Blanche Carver Died Last Friday

Mrs. Blanche Carver, a life-time resident of Madison and Warren counties, died Friday, Jan. 28, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. She was 89 years of age.

Mrs. Carver was born at West Liberty, Oct. 27, 1883, a daughter of Chester and Ella Benedict Purvis. She was married at Truro Oct. 8, 1902, to Arthur Carver. His death occurred in 1963.

She was a member of the Methodist church in St. Charles.

Mrs. Carver leaves a son, Paul Carver of California; a daughter, Mrs. Orval Johnson of St. Charles; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. William Andre of St. Charles. Burial was made in Ebenezer cemetery.

Blanche Carver Dies Friday

Funeral services for Blanche Carver were held Monday, January 31 from the Kale funeral Home in Truro. The 1:30 p.m. services were conducted by the Rev. William Andre of St. Charles. She died Friday, January 28.

Blanche Carver was born in West Liberty, Iowa October 27, 1883. She was educated in the Oak Run Community Schools and was united in marriage to William Albert Carver October 8, 1902 in Truro. Two children were born to this union.

Surviving relatives include: son, Paul and wife, Audrey of California; daughter, Mrs. Orval Johnson of St. Charles; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by; her parents; husband, Arthur; and one brother, Arthur Purvis.

Blanche Purvis Carver, the daughter of Chester and Ella Benedict Purvis was born October 27, 1883, at the Purvis homestead near West Liberty, Iowa, the same house as the birth-place of her father; and departed this life January 28, 1972, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, Iowa; at the age of 88 years, 3 months, 1 day.

At the age of three, she moved with her parents, to a farm west of Truro, Iowa, which was her home until her marriage. She was united in marriage to Arthur B. Carver, on October 8, 1902, at the home of her parents near Truro, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Paul and Hazel. She was converted at the age of twelve and joined the Friends Church in the Oak Run Community. When they moved to Truro, Iowa, she became a member of the Christian Church. Several years later they moved to St. Charles, Iowa, where she was a member of the United Methodist Church. Her last years were spent at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, Iowa.

She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, Paul of Santa Monica, California; one daughter, Mrs Hazel Johnson of St. Charles, Iowa, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Her husband preceded her in death July 1, 1963.

Funeral services were conducted at the Kale Funeral Home, In Truro, Iowa, Monday, January 31, 1972, with the Rev. William L. Andre, officiating. Burial was beside her husband in the Ebeneezer Cemetery.
