Addelade Wright was born Nov. 22, 1852 in New York and died at her home in Madison county, August 16, 1920.

She was a member of the U.B. church at Union Chapel for years.

She, with her parents moved to Clayton county, Iowa, in 1854 when she was 12 years old.

They lived there four years then moved to Madison county where she resided until her death surrounded by old neighbors and friends who knew from years of close association her real worth as an honest, upright and honorable woman, unpretentious but highly esteemed. Such characters are a genuine loss to the community.

She was married March 15, 1872 to Alfred Pierce of Madison county. To this union six children were born, two daughters and the father having gone on before, Eva Louis, Dec. 27, 1892, Junia E., Feb. 10, 1893, and the father Feb. 3, 1918. One brother, one daughter, three sons and eleven grandchildren survive.

The brother, D. C. Wright of North Dakota and the children, Mrs. Carrie Schoults and Earl Pierce of Van Meter, Melbourne and Emery Pierce of DeSoto survive.

Quietly at the close of day her spirit took its flight and today she is beyond the toils, the burdens, the tempests and the storms of life. She is far beyond the hills where sorrows and clouds gather, far beyond the range of mortal sight in that land where Jesus is the light.
