John Atkinson Rites at Truro

Funeral services for John A. Atkinson of Truro were held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 2, from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro.

Mr. Atkinson died Oct. 29 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was 71 years of age.

A son of W. W. and Hattie B. Atkinson, he was born Sept. 13, 1904 in Madison county. A lifetime resident of the Truro community, he was a retired Natural Gas Pipe Line employee.

On March 25, 1930 he was married to Nola Holmes at Santa Anna, Calif. He was a member of the Truro Congregational church.

Surviving are two sons, Dale Atkinson of Peru, and John Dean Atkinson of Milpitas, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille Erzinger of Arroyo Grande, Calif. and Dorothy Dodd of Camdenton, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, and two brothers, Harold and Richard.

Officiating at the funeral Sunday was the Rev. Richard Hempenius of Truro. Burial was in Ebenezer cemetery.

John Atkinson Rites Sunday

Sunday, November 2, funeral services were held for John A. Atkinson of Truro, who died at the Mercy Hospital, Des Moines on Wednesday, October 29. The 2;00 p.m. service was conducted from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro with Rev. Richard Hempenius of Truro in charge. Interment was in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Truro, Iowa.

John A. Atkinson, age 71, was born September 14, 1904, the son of Hattie B. and W. W. Atkinson. He was married on March 25, 1930 to Nola Holmes in Santa Ana, California. They were the parents of two sons. He was retired from the Truro Pipe Line Company, living his lifetime in Truro. He was affiliated with the Congregational Christian Church in Truro.

Surviving relatives included son, Dale H. Atkinson and Judith of Peru, Iowa, son, John Dean Atkinson and wife, Eileen of Milpitas, California; four grandchildren and two sisters: Lucille Erzinger of Arroyo Grande, California and Dorothy Dodd of Camdenton, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Nola and two brothers, Harold and Richard.

Truro

Word was received here Wednesday of the death of John Atkinson in the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He grew to manhood in Truro and resided here most of his life. Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Richard Hempenius with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.
