Lucinda Snyder was born near Richmond, Ohio, August 11, 1831, departed this life at her home near Middle River, Iowa, Jan. 7, 1919 at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 27 days. When quite young she with her parents moved to Warren county, Iowa near Norwalk.

On May 13, 1851 she was united in marriage to Wm. Young, who died Feb. 7, 1917. To this union was born eight sons and 2 daughters, six of whom are living: Fremont, who lives in York, North Dakota; Thornton, in Warren county; Oscar, Will and Hugh who live with their sister, Mrs. John Gamble.

She also leaves one brother, Thornton Snyder, of Allen, Nebr., and two sisters, Mrs. George White and Sophfronia Snyder, of Norwalk, Iowa and 37 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. All the children were with her till the last except Fremont and Thornton, who were prevented coming on account of sickness.

She has been an invalid for over 5 years not being able to take a step without assistance. All through her years of suffering she never complained but ---- patiently waiting for the Savior to call to come up higher. All was done that kind and loving hands could do but she passed peacefully away. “ A life has gone from the care of loving hands on earth, and a home is sad and lonesome, but a loving tender Father has only reached down with Almighty hand to lift that life from the storms of earth to meet her some sweet day, for she’s not dead, she is just away.”
