Alfred Snyder Young was born in Warren county, Iowa, August 18, 1860 and died at his home southeast of Webster, Sunday, March 9, 1913, age 52 years, 6 months and 19 days. In 1882 he moved with his parents to Madison county. Two years later he, with two of his brothers, went to Dakota. He spent eight years there before returning to Iowa, where he was united in marriage to Nannie Eyerly Dec. 21, 1892. To this union were born three daughters: Hazel Fern, Garnet Marie and Golden Ruth, all of whom with their broken hearted mother, his aged father and mother, one sister, Mrs. John Gambol and five brothers, Fremont of Winterset, Thornton of Patterson, Oscar, Hugh and William, who, with their sister, lived near him, besides many relatives, are left to mourn his loss. All of these were with him at the last and did all that kind hands could do.

While in Dakota he was converted and joined an Evangelical church; then in 1903 he became a member of the M.E. church at Hebron, Iowa; at a later date his membership was transferred to the Webster M.E. church.

He has lived a good, earnest life always being a kind affectionate husband, a thoughtful considerate father and an obedient son.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Webster Wednesday at 1 p.m., conducted by Rev. F. H. Perkins. His five brothers and brother-in-law were the pall-bearers. Interment was made in the Wight cemetery. A large circle of friends extend their sympathy to the bereaved ones.
