ALFRED KOCH, rural Van Meter

Services for Alfred Koch, 91; rural Van Meter, who died of a heart ailment April 13, 1985 at the Madison County Hospital, were held April 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Van Meter with burial at the church cemetery.

Born at Geneseo, Ill., on July 18, 1893, he was the son of Lewis and Catherine Koch. He lived in the Van Meter area most of his life. Mr. Koch farmed and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and a veteran of World War I. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 403 at Van Meter. On Sept. 18, 1919, he was married to Nora Lienemann near Van Meter.

Survivors include sons, Dwaine and James, both of Van Meter; a daughter, Frances Roberg of Boone; a sister, Emma Everson of Webster, N.D.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, six brothers, four sisters and a grandson.
