E. E. KALE OF TRURO DIED EARLY SUNDAY

Long Time Resident of Ohio Township Dies After Brief Illness

E. E. Kale, well known Truro and Madison county resident, died early Sunday morning, January 14th, at the Harkins hospital in Osceola, after a few days illness. Mr. Kale who was familiarly known as Jack Kale, would have been 77 years old, on the day following his death. He had been in poor health for several months but he only became seriously ill last Wednesday.

Mr. Kale was born and raised in Douglas township. Fifty years ago he and his family moved to a farm three miles north of Truro. Ten years later they moved to Truro where he has since resided. His wife died in January 1930, and he later married Mrs. Mary Rockey, who survives him. He also leaves two sons, William and Charles Kale, both of Truro.

The Rev. and Mrs. Clayton P. Shepard conducted his funeral services at the Kale home Tuesday afternoon, and burial was made in the Truro cemetery. More particulars of his life will be given in next week's Madisonian.

Evans Ellsworth Kale, son of Alfred and Mary Kale, was born near Winterset, Iowa, Jan. 15, 1863 and passed on to his reward Jan. 14, 1940, at the Harkins hospital in Osceola, Iowa, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 30 days.

Mr. Kale was united in marriage to Elizabeth Fife, Jan. 16, 1883. She preceeded him in death March 8, 1930. To this union two sons were born: William Dossin and Charles Curtis.

Mr. Kale made his home on a farm near Winterset the first five years after his marriage. He then moved his family to a farm two miles north of Truro, where they lived ten years. The past 40 years he has made his home in Truro. When a young man he united with the Christian church. He was a loyal witness for Christ and a faithful worker in the kingdom all his life.

On Jan. 15, 1933 he was united in marriage to Mary Rockey of Peru, Iowa.

Besides his wife, and two sons, he leaves to mourn his loss, four grandchildren, Loran and Marvin, sons of W. D. Kale, and Charles, Jr., and Jackie, sons of C. C. Kale; and three great grandchildren all of Truro; one brother William of Kingfisher, Okla.; two half brothers, John and Frank; two half sisters, Maude and Eva all of Hiawatha, Kan., and Nettie of Martensdale, Ia. One brother, Thomas of Des Moines, preceded him in death, and one grandson, Herbert preceded him in death July 6, 1928.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev. Clayton and Marguerite E. Shepard. The body was laid to rest in the Ebenezer cemetery.

Truro Business Man Died Here Sunday; Services Held Today

Evans E. Kale, 76, well-known Truro business man, died at a local hospital Sunday morning, following an illness of several weeks.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon from the home in Truro in charge of the Webster Funeral Service of this city.

For many years Mr. Kale operated a grocery store at Truro and the business is still being operated by his son Jack. Another son Doss, operates a furniture and hardware store and funeral home.

Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bumbarger attended the funeral of E. E. Kale at Truro, Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Kale passed away at a hospital here, Sunday.
