Death of Mrs. W. S. Sulgrove

Mrs. W. S. Sulgrove, a resident of Madison county for most of her long life, died July 4, at the age of 69 years, lacking a few days.

Mrs. Sulgrove was the former Evalena Mathena Jane Eppard, eldest child of William S. and Mary Meadows Eppard. She was born in this county on July 8, 1867. Her early days were spent on the old homestead in Jackson township. As a young woman she united with the Church of Christ at Early Chapel and remained a life long member.

She was married to William S. Sulgrove on September 8, 1887. They spent the first few years of their marriage in South Dakota, later returning to Madison county. Her husband died in 1922.

Mrs. Sulgrove is survived by seven children; Willard, Ora, Everett, George and Lester Sulgrove and Lois Moore and Grace Inman; and eight grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Mabbitt of Dexter, Mrs. Lydia Leeper of Earlham, and Mrs. Victoria Young of Dexter; and two brothers, Vernus Eppard of Redfield and the Rev. Clarence Eppard of Clarinda.

Funeral services were held from Early Chapel Wednesday in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
