Death of William Johnston

William Johnston died Tuesday at noon, at his home at Bevington. Mr. Johnston was the father of Mrs. W. H. Lytle, of this city. The funeral services are to be held today (Thursday), at 2 o’clock, at St. Charles, at the Methodist church. Rev. F. G. Barnes will conduct the services.

Mr. Johnston was 68 years of age at the time of his death. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mortimor Johnston and was born and raised near St. Charles. One brother, Sam Johnston, preceded him in death. He is survived by three sisters, four brothers, his wife and eight children.

The children are: Mrs. Joe Kinnaird, and Denver Johnston, of Bevington; Everett, at home; Mrs. W. H. Lytle, Mrs. May Rogers and Mrs. Genevieve Cleland, of Winterset; Mrs. Sylvia Hastings, of Davenport, and Ned Johnston, of Jefferson. The brothers and sisters are: J. F. Johnston, Mrs. Molly Roberts, Alec Johnston and Mrs. J. Y. McGinness, of St. Charles; Mrs. Jennie Switzer, of Miami, Florida; Albert Johnston, of Ft. Madison, and Wes Johnston of Des Moines.

He was married to Miss Etta Mae Shreves about 44 years ago.
