Mrs. Wm. B. Hodges

Anna Elsie Nickle was born Feb. 16, 1854 in Marion county, Iowa and died in Des Moines, Dec. 30, 1918 aged 64 years, 10 months and 14 days. She was married to Wm. B. Hodges March 31, 1881 at St. Charles. He preceded her in death seven years ago.

To this union were born nine children, two of whom passed away in early years. Those who are left to revere and honor their mother's memory are; Floa May Fay, St. Paul, Minn.; Clark W. Hodges, Springfield, Minn.; Susie L. Oller, Winterset; Elsie P. Hodges, Des Moines; Bailey R. Hodges in service, Fortress Monroe, Va.; John W. Hodges in services, France; Frank G. Hodges in service, Ft. Sam Houston. She leaves also four brothers, two sisters and seven grandchildren.

She united with the St. Charles Church of Christ in her youth and died in that faith. She spent a large part of her life in Madison county, Iowa, and lived in Des Moines about two years just prior to her death. Her last prayer was that she might live to see her boys come home from war. The remains were laid away in the St. Charles cemetery Friday afternoon, Jan. 3, 1919.
