CHARLES L. COOK OF FAIRVIEW DIES

Funeral Services Were Held Last Saturday in Winterset

Charles L. Cook, a well-known farmer of the Fairview neighborhood for the past 30 years, died at his home last Thursday at the age of 68 years.

Mr. Cook was born in Adair county, near Stuart, on Jan. 14, 1871, and spent his youth there. He was the son of Jacob and Rebecca Cook. He was married on March 7, 1895 to Verna Miller. The first 11 years of their married life were spent in West Des Moines, where he was employed in the railroad shops. Thirty years ago they moved to a farm south of the Fairview church, where they had since lived.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife; two sons, Harry E. Cook of West Des Moines and Fred S. Cook of Guthrie Center; three grandchildren, Ferris and Marcella Cook of West Des Moines and Laura Jean Cook of Guthrie Center; a brother, George Cook of Stuart; and four sisters, Mrs. Joe Batherest of Casey, Mrs. Bert McIntyre of Stuart, and Mrs. Sydney Smith and Mrs. Clarence Morris of West Branch.

Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset, and burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.

Charles L. Cook, son of Jacob and Rebecca Cook, was born in Adair County, Iowa, January 14, 1871, and died at his home in Madison county on May 25, 1939, at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 11 days.

Mr. Cook spent his youth near Stuart, Iowa, and on March 7, 1895, he was united in marriage with Verna Miller. To this union were born two sons, Harry E. Cook, of West Des Moines and Fred S. Cook, of Guthrie Center. The first 11 years of their family life were spent in Valley Junction where Mr. Cook was employed in the railroad shop. The past 30 years Mr. Cook has made his home on his farm south of Fairview church. Here he and his wife have made themselves loved by their neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and he leaves to mourn his wife, Mrs. C. L. Cook, his two sons, Harry E., and Fred S., three grandchildren, Ferris and Marcella Cook, of West Des Moines and Laura Jean of Guthrie Center; 4 sisters, Mrs. Joe Bathurst of Casey, Mrs. Bert McIntire of Stuart, Mrs. S. E. Smith of West Branch, Mrs. C. I. Morris of West Branch, and one brother, Mr. George Cook, of Stuart.

The pallbearers were the deceased six nephews: Cecil Copeland of West Des Moines, Ray Cook of Dexter, Lew Cook, Stuart, Ralph McIntire, Stuart, and Charlie McIntire, Stuart.

Funeral services were held in Winterset with burial in Fairview cemetery, near his late home.
