Jesse William Lathrum, oldest son of Clark and Flora Lathrum was born November 17, 1874 in Madison county, on a farm near Truro, Iowa, and died at his home north of Truro May 29, 1933, at the age of 58 years, 6 months and 12 days. He was united in marriage to Mattie A. Cole on April 4, 1900. To this union four children were born.
He is survived by his wife and three children, Geneva Pauline, Edgar Keith, Oral Velma. The oldest son, Glendon Guy preceded him in death 20 years ago. Four brothers and three sisters survive him, James of Truro, Lesly of Des Moines, Edgar of Linden, Andrew of Denver, Colorado, Bell Woodruff and Elizabeth Childs of Newton, Ada Rusk of Fort Des Moines, one living aunt, Mrs. Jennie Howard of St. Charles, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends mourn his passing.
He was a kind and loving husband and father and to all whom he came in contact with. He united with the M. E. church when a young man and was also a charter member of the Knights of Pythias No. 334 of Truro and Pythian Temple No. 155.
