Lawrence Simmons, Peru

A funeral service was held Monday, July 26, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro for Lawrence E. Simmons of Peru, who died July 24, at Des Moines General Hospital. He was 83 years old.

Born July 8, 1899, he was the son of Robert and Lilly James Simmons.

He was educated in Peru schools and on April 4, 1927, married Mabel Frank at Osceola. One son was born to the couple.

A lifetime resident of Madison county, he was a mechanic and farmer by occupation. He was a member of the Peru United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother and sister.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel of Peru; son Lowell, of Truro; sister, Lillian Moorman; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rev. Janne Clinton of Truro officiated at the funeral service. Burial was in the Peru Cemetery.
